Quality of Service
Excellence in Service Quality for High-Pressure Fluid Control.
VSI LLC designs and manufactures high-pressure control valves for the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. Our quality commitment covers the entire product lifecycle: design, manufacturing, testing, delivery, and technical support. Discover how VSI LLC meets the most demanding market requirements for reliability, precision, and durability.
Why Service Quality Is Critical in Your Industry
In high-pressure fluid control applications – hydrocarbon refining, pump injection, natural gas production, boiler feed water injection – a valve failure is never trivial. It can cause unplanned production shutdowns, costly equipment damage, safety risks for operators, and significant financial losses.
The most frequently reported problems among engineers and procurement professionals in the sector are:
- Destructive cavitation: conventional valves suffer rapid, repeated damage when vaporized fluid impacts internal walls. Frequent replacements drive up maintenance costs and downtime.
- Imprecise control: a valve poorly characterized for its application leads to unstable regulation, pressure oscillations, and premature wear.
- Lack of traceability and compliance: projects subject to API 6A or ASME B16.34 standards require rigorous documentation that many suppliers cannot guarantee.
- Missed delivery deadlines: in a constrained industrial environment, a delivery delay on a critical component can hold up an entire project.
- Insufficient post-sale technical support: once the valve is installed, the lack of technical guidance leaves maintenance teams without resources when operational problems arise.
- Incompatible end configurations: connection ends that don’t match the existing installation generate adaptation costs and sealing risks.
VSI LLC has structured its entire quality approach to address each of these points directly.
01 — Our Quality Commitment: The Core Pillars
The Atlas valve is the result of intensive engineering development, culminating in U.S. Patent 9,404,561. Its internal helical bevel gear drive actuation system is a direct response to the limitations of conventional globe valves.
The annular axisymmetric design directs high-velocity vaporized fluid away from flow path boundaries throughout the entire control range, structurally eliminating the primary cause of cavitation damage.
Every design choice is supported by documented hydraulic analysis. The gradual pressure recovery downstream of the trim restriction is a measurable, reproducible physical property.
All materials and construction of the Atlas valve comply with API 6A and ASME B16.34. These are the globally recognized standards for pressure-containing equipment in the oil & gas industry.
Trim components are made from nitrocarburized 17-4PH stainless steel. The seat is tungsten carbide or 440C steel, with a tungsten carbide plug option available. These materials are dimensioned to survive continuous choked-flow conditions.
The Atlas valve is triple-sealed to contain process fluids up to 450°F (232°C). This multi-barrier design reduces leakage risk, protects the environment and operators, and minimizes preventive maintenance on seals.
Flow path and actuation components receive an Ultralube™ surface treatment. This reduces the friction coefficient, limits abrasive wear, and improves durability in fluids contaminated with erosive solids — particularly relevant for natural gas production.
The multi-turn valve stem combined with the two-stage internal actuation system significantly reduces the torque required. Result: less-stressed actuators, superior positioning accuracy, and longer service life.
Control signal behavior (EP – Equal Percentage, ERL – Extended Range Linear) is documented for each model.
The Atlas valve is available in nominal sizes 2", 3", 4" with CV values from 5 to 210. Multiple trim configurations and end connections allow easy integration into existing systems, reducing on-site adaptation costs.
02 — Our Manufacturing Quality Process
Every Atlas valve is manufactured at VSI LLC’s facilities in Tulsa, Oklahoma (8720 South Elwood). The controlled process includes:
- Material selection and full traceability in compliance with applicable standards
- Precision machining of internal components (sleeve, plug, seat, stem)
- Dimensional inspection of critical tolerances
- Pressure and leak testing prior to shipment
- Complete compliance documentation provided with each unit
The close proximity between engineering and manufacturing teams enables immediate responsiveness for any technical adjustment or special request.
